Somerset College

For more than 150 years Somerset College has provided the highest standards of education and training using industry-standard facilities and resources. All of our courses are designed to meet employer's needs and to provide skills and knowledge relevant to work and employment.

Inspectors recently rated us as a good college, outstanding in several areas. Our success rates are very high for both further and higher education; our campus is vibrant; we have national awards in many areas and are specialists in health and social care, design and the creative industries. Amongst our many strengths is our growing expertise in renewable and green technologies. Part of this is our extensive experience of and professional programmes for sustainable construction and a growing strength of the College is our response to new technologies which span many business sectors.

We are a progressive college which brings out the best in all our students. Whatever their choice of study, each person is given full support to find out who they really are and achieve their ambitions and aspirations.

Our courses cover many levels, and we have a strong higher education portfolio with degree courses in many areas. Students come from all over the UK to study on our degree programmes. Our students stay with us from further to higher education, and return again to develop their professional skills when they enter employment.

Our contact and work with employers is extensive and we aim to be the training provider of choice for young people, adults and employers in Somerset. We want our students to achieve the highest standards set for their chosen industry sector, so that they can begin their careers with confidence, knowing they have been trained in the most advanced business methods and technology.

Also on our campus are Genesis, the sustainable construction centre, the Hot House business incubation units and the Taunton Conference Centre. These landmark buildings, together with our extensive range of courses from the Business Training area of the College, give the support and conference facilities business needs to get ahead. Coupled with the range of business training options from the College, we can offer businesses all the help they need to achieve a well-resourced and highly skilled workforce.
