Fashion Student Finalist to Take Centre Stage with Bridal Design
Amy Nankervis-Smith, aged 20, who is in her final year of studying a BA (Hons) degree in Fashion Design, at Somerset College, has made it to the finals of the internationally respected 2015 Bridal Buyer Competition.
Amy has secured a place in the final with her stunning bridal design for the category - Bridal Buyers Best Student Designer.
Amy was chosen amongst thousands of other student designers from colleges and universities across the country, due to the strength of her design and application.
Gary Mills, lead lecturer of the BA (Hons) Fashion Design course at Somerset College has said ‘It has been a real pleasure guiding Amy throughout the course of her degree in Fashion Design. She is an exceptional student and has a wide range of skills and knowledge to produce professional, unique, and innovative designs. This achievement reflects her passion for design and the vast amount of effort she puts in to every creation.
Amy’s design on paper will now need to come to life, with the full garment being ready for the final by Saturday 12 September. Her design will be on show at one of the most popular Bridal shows in the UK, The Harrogate Bridal Show, when the winner will be selected.
