Description

The aim of this course is to give you the opportunity to prepare for a career in the automotive engineering industry by introducing you to practical and theoretical aspects of motor vehicle work.

The programme covers all aspects of vehicle servicing and body repair. The work is based on practical activities that build into a portfolio of evidence, which supports entry onto an apprenticeship or further study.

Teaching and Assessment

Practical and theoretical content. With the assistance of your lecturers you will be expected to complete a personal portfolio made up of practical job cards, which will be assessed.

You are able to re-sit any of the modules as often as required. You will be made aware of your progress throughout the course with regular obtainable short-term targets.

Career Opportunities

Employment as a trainee motor vehicle technician in light or heavy vehicle repair and maintenance, a trainee vehicle body repairer and/or vehicle refinisher or a fast-fit technician.

Alternatively you could opt to progress onto our First Diploma Vehicle Technology, study for the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) qualifications or find work as an apprentice.

Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are necessary but an interest in motor vehicles is essential and a willingness to work hard at your theory and practical studies.
