If you have been out of education for a while and would like to gain access to a university level qualification such as a degree, an Access course may be the best way forward for you.
Access courses are equivalent to two A levels and give you access to university level courses. Our Access courses are designed to fit around a busy family or work life. Additional GCSE Maths, English and Science classes are available and Level 2 numeracy and literacy sessions can also be arranged.
This course combines a study of Psychology and Sociology to provide access to a variety of Higher Education Social Science courses including degrees in Psychology, Sociology or Social Work. You will also cover Social Care and Counselling.
You will study a range of units in all of your subjects and your work will be assessed throughout the course. Successful compeltion of each unit gives you Access 'Credits'. You need to achieve at least 60 credits to be awarded full Access certification
There are no formal entry requirements, however, it is important that you have developed skills in written English.
If you have not already achieved GCSE English at grade C it is usually possible to study this alongside your Access programme. It may be necessary in some cases for applicants to complete a short comprehension exercise to demonstrate their abiliities in written English.
