Our free Skills for Life courses can help all adults with their English and Maths. Maybe you feel you missed out on these core skills at school and want to update them to improve your confidence and prospects? These skills could help you gain access to further education or improve your skills in your current job.
These courses are to help people without formal or current English skills and qualifications gain a nationally recognised Level 1 or 2 English qualification. There is an entry level 3 programme for people not yet ready to sit a national test. They will develop a portfolio to achieve a qualification. The national award will allow learners to consider entry into other qualifications where English is a requirement. It may also upgrade current qualifications to allow learners to consider higher job qualifications in their chosen area. Progression through the levels will also be possible year on year.
Assessment will be based on the production of a portfolio at Entry level 3 and the successful completion of a 40 question multiple choice test at Level 1 and 2.
The programme will be a combination of computer and paper based work. We will help you to develop the areas that you are assessed as having difficulty with, preparing you to produce a portfolio (Entry 3) or take a test (Level 1 and 2) to gain a National Award. You will work independently, in groups and with the tutor to practice the skills you need to gain the award.
There are no formal entry requirements. Learners will be initially assessed to determine their present level of ability.
