Our free Skills for Life courses can help all adults with their English and Maths. Maybe you feel you missed out on these core skills at school and want to update them to improve your confidence and prospects? These skills could help you gain access to further education or improve your skills in your current job.
These courses are to help people without formal or current Maths skills and qualifications gain a nationally recognised Entry 3, Level 1 or 2 Maths qualification. The national award will allow learners to consider entry into other qualifications where Maths is a requirement. It may also upgrade current qualifications to allow learners to consider higher job qualifications in their chosen area. Progression through the levels will also be possible year on year.
Will be based on the production of a portfolio at Entry level 3 and the successful completion of a 40 question multiple choice test at Level 1 and 2.
Students will achieve a qualification through portfolio evidence or by sitting a national test. The programme will be a combination of computer and paper based work to develop the areas the learner is assessed as having difficulty with, preparing them to produce a portfolio (Entry 3) or take a test (Level 1 and 2) to gain a National Award. The learner will work independently, in groups and with the tutor to practice the skills they need to gain the award.
There are no formal entry requirements. Learners will be initially assessed.
