Successful completion of this apprenticeship will provide students with an IMI Technical Certificate/Diploma, an NVQ Level 3 and integrated practical training and assessment for light vehicle trainees.
Generally a 2 year programme based upon day release. However, the programme may be modified according to your professional experiences.
Level 3 compulsory modules:
• Remove and replace structural body panels
• Repair structural body panels
• Rectify vehicle misalignment
• Refinish vehicles
Level 3 optional modules:
• Create special paint effects
The individual Technical Certificate and NVQ may be studied independently. Functional Skills will feature as part of both apprenticeships.
The IMI course is assessed by online assessments, College-based assignments and short answer tests. The NVQ at Level 2 or 3 will be assessed by demonstration of practical competence in a variety of relevant tasks, a portfolio which will be up to a national standard plus responses to technical questions to measure your understanding of body repair and refinishing.
Employment as a motor vehicle body repairer and/or vehicle refinishing technician, trainee service receptionist/engineer in vehicle body specialisms or a trainee vehicle body accident repair insurance estimator.
You could progress onto our Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) or Foundation Degree Engineering (Automotive Engineering).
