Who is this course for?

This qualification is both a nationally and internationally recognised award in the motorcycle industry. You will develop both theoretical and practical skills relevant to maintenance and repairs.

Description

Compulsory modules include:
• Contributing to workplace good housekeeping
• Ensuring your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
• Maintaining positive working relationships
• Routine motorcycle maintenance
• Remove and replace engine units and components
• Remove and replace electrical auxiliary units and components
• Remove and replace motorcycle chassis units and components

Optional modules include:
• Conduct pre and post work motorcycle inspections
• Remove and replace vehicle transmission and driveline units and components

Teaching and Assessment

Online assessments, workplace observations, College-based assignments and short answer tests will all form part of the assessment.

Career Opportunities

Employment as a motorcycle mechanical technician, trainee service receptionist/engineer in motorcycle mechanical specialist areas, trainee vehicle mechanical repair insurance or perhaps an estimator.

You could progress onto our Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) or Foundation Degree Engineering (Automotive Engineering) here at Somerset College.

Entry Requirements

College entrants will be 16 years of age or over and have at least four GCSEs at grade E or above plus a College interview, initial assessment and a trial period at work.
