There is a strong focus on promoting the use of renewable energies in the UK currently. Solar water heating is on an upward growth curve and plumbing operatives are having to respond to an increase in demand from environmentally and economically conscious consumers.
This BPEC course has been developed in partnership with the Solar Trade Association (STA). It is aimed at already qualified or experienced domestic heating engineers and plumbers.
The course provides the knowledge on how to install a solar domestic hot water system and takes into consideration the majority of systems installed in the UK, investigating the different system configurations, components and operating characteristics. The course targets aspects which are particular to solar domestic hot water systems, giving operatives the confidence to select, install and maintain systems.
The training course (including manual) will take you through the following areas:
You will attend college for a three-day intensive training course and achievement will be measured by the successful completion of a 45 question multiple-choice open book assessment. The teaching is both theoretical and practical, you will need steel toe capped safety boots to complete the practical training.
Successful achievement of this course is a requirement of the new minimum technical competency (MTC) document for solar installers and the certification is recognised by the BRE Micro-generation scheme.
As a minimum you must have successfully achieved or be working towards the C&G 6089 NVQ Level 2 , or have evidence of working in the industry for a number of years.
Tuition Fees: £400 includes training manual, certificate and competency card.
