This Code of Practice provides guidance on the inspection and testing of electrical equipment including appliances, fixed equipment and IT equipment. The course is aimed at those with responsibility for the electrical maintenance of such equipment and practicing electricians.
The Code of Practice considers the legal obligations imposed by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
The course contains both theory and practical and is taught in a standard classroom and a simulated workshop environment. You will require steel toe capped work boots to complete this course.
Successful achievement is measured by the completion of a 30 question multi-choice open book exam taken online and a practical assessment (although this may be updated by the awarding body).
Successful completion of this course improves competency in the candidate's ability to carry out inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
As a minimum candidates must have successfully achieved an electrical qualification at Level 2, or have evidence of relevent industrial experience.
Candidates will also require a copy of the IEE Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment 3rd Edition (available from all good book stores).
