Who is this course for?

Electricians install, connect, test and maintain electrical systems for a variety of purposes, including climate control, security and communications. Although most electricians specialise in construction or maintenance, a growing number do both. Timetabled sessions will take place over two and half days per week for the academic year.

The Performing Engineering Operations course is an introductory certificate aimed at developing your basic skills and the City & Guilds is a technical certificate which will give you the underpinning knowledge required to develop a wide range of skills including installation, commissioning and maintenance.

To be a qualified tradesperson you will need to complete the Level 3 in your chosen trade. This is  a work-oriented qualification which requires you to build a portfolio of evidence; therefore, you should be suitably employed in a related role.

If you are under 23 years and have relevant employment, you could follow the apprenticeship route.
