Who is this course for?

This course is designed to equip learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to successfully start a career in the uniformed public services, such as the Police, Emergency Fire Services, Prison Service, Security or Armed Services.

There are 6 modular units that need to be covered during the year.

Units must be achieved in:

  • Public service Skills
  • Land Navigation by Map & Compass
  • Expedition Skills in Public Services
  • Employment in the Uniformed Public Services
  • Career Planning for the Public Services
  • Improving Health & Fitness for Entry to the Uniformed Public Services

During the course there will be a variety of visits and guest speakers. Im addition you will participate in a variety of activites that are pyhsical and challenging.

Teaching and Assessment

The units will be assessed throughout the course through a combination of written, practical projects and observation.

As well as attending lectures and workshops you will be expected to participate in practical excercise and attend the College sports programme.

Career Opportunities

You will instantly be able to progress onto the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Uniformed Public Services if you pass the course with a Merit/Distinction profile and a recommendation from your tutor.

The programme has been designed to prepare students for entry tests carried out by a range of public services.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at grade D to E including English Language. Students should be physically fit and keen to follow a public services career.

All candidates will be interviewed to determine their suitability.
