The SEMTA course is assessed by online assessments, College-based assignments and short answer tests. The NVQ at Level 2 or 3 will be assessed by demonstration of practical competence in a variety of relevant tasks, a portfolio which will be up to a national standard plus responses to technical questions to measure your understanding of engineering.
Employment as a mechanical or electronic engineer, or design related specialist.
There are opportunities to progress onto our Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) National Diploma or onto an HNC or Foundation Degree in Engineering (Design and Manufacture) or Engineering (Electronic Systems).
College entrants will be 16 years of age and over and have at least four GCSEs at grade E or above plus a College interview and initial assessment.
You will need an employer to sponsor you. This process needs to start as soon as you feel you want to become an engineer. Often the offer of an apprenticeship comes from work experience or voluntary work, so always be on the look-out for opportunities. We can help you to find placements and can also transfer you to an apprenticeship from a full-time programme at any time.
