Students who have an interest in Make-up, Hairdressing, Wig Making, Prosthetics, Design and Creative Arts with a desire to work in Theatre, Film, TV or Editorial/Promotional
Our Media Make-up graduates have gone on to work in the busy wig and make-up departments at Glyndbourne Opera; as make-up assistants for the BBC and ITV; at West End theatres and on major film productions such as War Horse, Alice in Wonderland and Clash of the Titans.
This unique programme will give you:

• Skills in the art of hair work, character development, body painting, wig-making and prosthetics.
• A comprehensive portfolio of work to show prospective employers.
• The opportunity to undertake a work placement.
• The course will develop professional practice skills which will equip you with the necessary personal business skills to maximise your opportunities after you graduate.

The course is modular and is assessed continually on your coursework. You will complete a programme of projects which include written assignments, journals/design presentations and practical transformations. You will also attend lectures and practical workshops. An individual study and research unit will allow you to develop research skills in an area of interest to you. Group sizes are such that both students and lecturers can work in focused groups.
On successful completion of this course you will be equipped with a high level of subject practical skills and a portfolio of photographic work. Students often take up employment opportunities within theatre, television and film productions as well as working with make-up agencies in fashion and advertising.
National Diploma in 3D Design (Media Make-up) or Art and Design or similar or Foundation Diploma Art and Design or A2/AS Level including one of Art, Media Studies, History or English Literature (minimum 160 points including 80 points at A2 level) or AVCE Double Award Arts and Design (minimum grade CC) or Advanced Diploma or Access Certificate Arts and Design. We also require students to have five GCSEs to include English Language and Art at grade C (or equivalent).
You will be asked to attend an interview with your portfolio. This should display a minimum of 15 pieces of work including sketchbooks and photographs. Mature students without formal entry requirements are welcome to apply.
