Who is this course for?

This course is for:

  • Anyone wishing to learn more about renewable energy technologies and water harvesting.
  • Existing plumbing and heating engineers or electricians wishing to gain this qualification to continue on to the technology specific qualifications.

Description

This qualification provides learners with the knowledge surrounding the many environmental technologies that the government hopes will help to reduce fuel costs and reduce CO2 emissions. This qualification is a pre-requisite of the technology specific qualifications and gives the learners a basic understanding of all of the current proposed micro generation and water conservation technologies .

Teaching and Assessment

The training course will take the learner through the following:

  • Know the fundamental working principles of micro-renewable energy and water conservation technologies.
  • Know to the fundamental requirement of building location/building features for the potential to install micro-renewable and water conservation systems to exist.
  • Know the fundamental regulatory requirements relating to micro-renewable energy and water conservation technologies.
  • Know the typical advantages and disadvantages of micro-renewable energy and water conservation technologies.

Assessment is by a computer based examination that will take place during the course.

Career Opportunities

Success in this qualification can be used qualify the learner to undertake technology specific courses relating to environmental technologies.

It could also be used as a basis of knowledge around the different micro-generation and water conservation technologies that are recognised as contributing to the reduction in emissions by the Government.

Entry Requirements

None although the related qualifications do have further pre-requisites.
