For candidates who work as managers, deputy managers and advanced practitioners in health and social care and children and young people’s services in the health and social care sector.
The qualification is split into 6 pathways: Adult’s Management, Children & Young People’s Management, Adults Advanced Practice, Children & Young People’s Advanced Practice, Adult’s Residential Management and Children & Young People’s Residential Management. We also deliver the course to match the Wales and Northern Ireland Occupational Standards.
Individuals working in: residential services for older people; residential services for younger adults; residential services for children; domiciliary care services; day services and community based services; adoption and fostering services. Managers and assistant managers.
These qualifications guide and assess development of knowledge, understanding and skills in management practice within health and social care and children and young people’s services and serves as the required qualification for registration within England and the regulatory requirements for the sector in Wales and NI.
You will study shared core and mandatory units to the value of 20 credits. The remaining 60 credits will be made up from the requirements for the individually selected pathway and optional units which, through discussion with your assessor and employer, will best suit your work setting.
The qualification will be gained through one-to-one assessment in your workplace using a range of methods including observation of normal work activities to confirm your competence. Your understanding of the underpinning knowledge could be assessed in the form of questions, professional discussions or attended workshops. You will be supported throughout your course by qualified assessors.
These qualifications replace the current Level 4 NVQ in Leadership and Management for Care Services and the Level 4 NVQ in Health and Social Care, which are accepted as entry requirements to a number of HEI programmes. These qualifications will be the accepted qualification for registration and regulation of your service where appropriate and can demonstrate continuing professional development.
Level 3 or Level 4 NVQ in Health & Social Care and/or relevant experience within your individual sector.
