To gain the IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry) Technical Certificate you will need to complete the programme. The two qualifications may be studied independently. However, to achieve a balanced package, both should be studied at the same time. Functional Skills will feature as part of both qualifications.
The IMI course is assessed by online assessments, College-based assignments and short answer tests. The NVQ at Level 2 or 3 will be assessed by demonstration of practical competence in a variety of relevant tasks, a portfolio which will be up to a national standard plus responses to technical questions to measure your understanding of light vehicle maintenance and repair work.
Employment as a motor vehicle mechanical technician, trainee service receptionist/engineer in vehicle mechanical specialisms, trainee vehicle mechanical repair insurance or perhaps an estimator.
You could progress onto our Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) or Foundation Degree Engineering (Automotive Engineering).
