This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn modern electronics, data communications, computing systems, workshop skills, equipment maintenance and network design.
The course is a proven vocational equivalent to A Levels, for entry onto Foundation or Honours Degree in a range of engineering, computing or technology related subjects.

• Telecommunication principles
• Communications equipment installation techniques
You will develop your technical and practical skills through formal lectures, assignments, group work and training in our up-to-date workshops. In addition, with the help of our lecturing staff, you will maintain a candidate portfolio to support your studies.
Further study onto a Foundation Degree in Engineering (Design and Manufacture) or Engineering (Electronic Systems) here at Somerset College with an additional one year top-up to an Honours Degree at the University of Plymouth as an option.
Alternatively you could find employment in aeronautical engineering, communications engineering, design technology and computing or design and manufacture.
You should be at least 16 years of age, have a good standard of general education to GCSE level, with grades C or above in English, Mathematics and Science or demonstrate to the College during your interview that you can cope with the demands of this course
