This qualification will give candidates an opportunity to investigate and examine issues which are of direct concern to them; the topic will be relevant to their experiences and priorities including environmental, community workplace and quality of life.
The course is suitable for all educators and educational managers whoare looking to introduce and integrate education for sustainabledevelopment into their teaching and learning programmes. It can also form a good general background for any member of staff seeking tobroaden their general knowledge of the sustainability agenda.
It will cover, among other topics, the principles behind sustainable development;looking at how sustainable development has broadened and advanced; diversity, values and social inclusion as well as the importance of education and awareness. It consists of two manadatory units:
A mix of sessions with guest lecturers, practical workshops, seminars and course work. Previous courses have included lectures by Satish Kumar and Stephan Harding of Schumacher College.
