This course is suitable for those who are employed within the housekeeping areas of hospitals, care homes or hotels and have a basic understanding of the job role but who wish to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding. It is designed to enable students to have an understanding of all areas of the housekeeping function whilst gaining hands on experience within their job role.
Learners must complete a total of 8 units, 4 mandatory units and 4 optional units. Here is an indication of some of the units covered and there are more optional units to choose from:
Mandatory Units:
• Maintain a safe, hygienic and secure working environment
• Contribute to effective teamwork
• Clean and service a range of areas
• Work using different chemicals and equipment
The assessor will visit learners in the workplace at appropriate times for employers to set and support work and for learners to complete units.
Assessment is by the production of a personal portfolio of evidence demonstrating understanding and application of the qualification standards. Evidence will be a mixture of observation, witness testimony, professional discussion and candidate evidence.
