This is a nationally recognised teaching training course for graduates teaching in the lifelong learning sector.
It is accredited by the University of Plymouth and endorsed by Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) for those teaching in LSC funded practice and Quality Marked by LLUK for those who are not teaching in LSC funded practice.
There are six core modules and two enhancement modules, the six core modules are:
Teaching and learning methods used will include classroom based group sessions, small group work, discussions, micro-teaching, teaching through a variety of ILT resources, observations of practice and individual tutorials.
Each module will be assessed by the successful completion of a 3,000 word assignment, or equivalent. You should successfully complete 200 hours of professional practice. You should successfully complete a minimum of 8 observed sessions of professional practice.

This course may involve regular access to children and/or vulnerable adults (also known as regulated activity).
All students applying for this course will be legally required to register with the Vetting and Barring Scheme (VBS) which is administered by the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA). The ISA has recently been established as a single agency to monitor all individuals who want to work or volunteer with vulnerable people. Registration with the scheme will cost £64 (as of April 2009) and is a one-off payment which will cover both the cost of registration and a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. Following successful registration you will be issued with an ISA Registration Number which will stay with you for the rest of your career. The College will send further instructions on registering with the VBS as part of the admissions process.
