This course is suitable for those wishing to assess in the workplace. You do not need to be employed by the company you are assessing candidates for (such as a freelance assessor) but you must have access to candidates to complete the full award.
This qualification replaces the NVQ Level 3 A1 Assessor Award and the D32/D33 qualifications
There are four routes for this award which hold different levels of credits demonstrating knowledge and competence in the respective areas.
The Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment is a knowledge only unit for aspiring assessors or quality managers. You do not need access to candidates for this unit. This unit is certificated and valued at 3 credits. This unit is required for all the following pathways.
The Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment is a competence based unit for practitioners who assess the achievement of competence in a work environment using the following assessment methods: observation, examining work products, oral questioning and discussion, use of others (e.g. witnesses), learner statements and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Taken with the knowledge unit this 6 credit unit will give you the full 9 credits required to be certificated for this award.
The Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement is a competence based unit for practitioners who assess achievement in vocationally-related situations, for example classrooms or workshops and who use the following methods of assessment: assessments in simulated environments, skills tests, oral and written questions, assignments, projects, case studies and RPL. Taken with the knowledge unit this 6 credit unit will give you the full 9 credits required to be certificated this award.
The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is for all practitioners who need to be qualified to use ALL of the above listed assessment methods. This certificate is comprised of a 3 credit knowledge unit and two 6 credit competence based units making a total of 15 credits for which you will receive the full award certificate.
The qualification will be gained through workshop attendance and one-to-one appointments using a range of methods to confirm your competence. Your understanding of the underpinning knowledge could be assessed in the form of questions, professional discussions or attended workshops. You will be supported throughout your course by qualified assessors.
Successful achievement of the Level 3 certificate will enable you to progress onto the QCF Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
