This course is suitable if your work role involves evaluating the internal assessment process, monitoring and reviewing the internal assessment audit systems and carrying out relating internal verification or moderation activities. You will need to meet the occupational competence as set out in the qualification you are assessing. You will need to have responsibility for at least two assessors.
This qualification replaces the NVQ Level 4 V1 Internal Verifier and the D34 Awards
There are three routes for this award which hold different levels of credits demonstrating knowledge and competence in the respective areas.
The Level 4 Award in Understanding the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice is a knowledge only unit for those who need to know about internal quality assurance but who are not carrying out quality assurance themselves. These may be experienced assessors or centre managers for example. This unit is certificated and valued at 6 credits. This unit is required for all the following pathways.
The Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice is a competence unit for practitioners who conduct internal quality assurance of the assessment process from within a centre or organisation, by sample planning, monitoring and advising on the practice of assessors. Taken with the knowledge unit this 6 credit unit will give you the full 12 credits required to be certificated for this award.
The Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice is a competence unit for practitioners who lead the internal quality assurance process and have a responsibility for managing the quality of the assurance process and practice and the performance of assessors. They may also develop systems and lead on visits from outside agencies such as awarding organisations. This Certificate comprises of the 6 credit knowledge unit and two competence units, one 6 credit and one 5 credit making a total of 17 credits for which you will receive the full award certificate.
The qualification will be gained through workshop attendance and one-to-one appointments using a range of methods to confirm your competence. Your understanding of the underpinning knowledge could be assessed in the form of questions, professional discussions or attended workshops. You will be supported throughout your course by qualified assessors.
