This course is designed to introduce you to working within a professional team. You will develop your skills as a chef and learn skills required to work front of house. You will also spend 4 weeks in the workplace at various placements.
You will develop skills in the following areas:
• Customer care
• Working within a team
• Food preparation and production
• Basic food hygiene certificate
Applicants are highly recommended to seek work in the industry while studying.
You will take a Food Hygiene qualification and study Functional Skills in Communication, Application of Number and IT.
Assessment will take place in a realistic working environment. There will be demonstrations, theory sessions, practical and portfolio work.
Numerous written assignments related to the hospitality industry plus several synoptic practical exams.
You could progress onto the VRQ 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery/Diploma in Food and Beverage Service, subject to a positive reference from the teaching team and successful completion of the full qualification including Functional Skills. Alternatively you could seek employment in the industry.
3 GCSE A - C grades, proven work experience may also be taken into account.
