This course is designed for anyone wishing to become a member of a professional team in a leading establishment or pursue a freelance career. Your skills as a chef will improve and you will learn the skills required to work front of house.
You will develop skills in one or more of the operational areas within the industry, including:
You will be working in a team within a busy kitchen and restaurant. The course includes participating in a number of work placements throughout the year.
Applicants are highly recommended to seek work in the industry whilst studying.
You will take a Food Hygiene qualification and study Functional Skills in Communication, Application of Number and IT.
Assessment will take place in a realistic working environment, there will be demonstrations, theory sessions, practical and portfolio work.
Numerous written assignments related to the hospitality industry plus several synoptic practical exams.
You may be able to progress onto Level 3 after successful completion of the course and an in-depth interview process. Alternatively you could study the Hospitality supervision qualification.
VRQ 1 Diploma in Professional Cookery and Certificate in Food and Beverage Service. You will also undergo an initial assessment prior to enrolment and need to demonstrate genuine enthusiasm for this industry. The results of your assessment will determine your level of study and ability to achieve this qualification.
