This qualification is perfect for students who are new to the hairdressing industry.
You will gain all of the essential underpinning knowledge of hairdressing to enable you to progress on to Level 3. You will learn:
• Health and safety in the salon
• Client consultation
• Shampooing and conditioning
• Basic styling
• Blow drying and cutting
• Basic colouring and lightening techniques
• Perming and relaxing
• Salon reception duties
• The art of dressing hair
You will also study towards Functional Skills, personal development, personal skills, communication, problem solving and working with others, all of which are an integral part of this course.
The course uses a range of assessment strategies, including practical observation, oral assessment and online testing.
You will be taught through practical sessions, working with clients and assisting in the salon as well as lectures, tutorials and educational visits.
You could progress to Level 3 Hairdressing.
3 GCSEs at grades A* to C, one in English, or an NVQ Level 1 in Hairdressing plus an interview.
You will need a professional salon uniform and kit - price on application.
