Who is this course for?
The City & Guilds Advanced Engineering is a part-time, two year, one day a week course designed to meet the needs of those looking to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Advanced Manufacturing / Production Engineering at a higher level. The units have been specially chosen to provide practical skills and theoretical knowledge required in the demanding engineering business environment. On successful completion you will be awarded a Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.
Ideal for both those with experience and those with little experience, this course provides you with a nationally recognised qualification and the skills to progress within the hi-tech manufacturing and production industries.

Course Description
As far as possible the course is practically based and as an engineering student you will be studying modules in a variety of areas, which will lead you to gaining experience skills and knowledge in the following modules that add value to business operations:
You will learn through a combination of lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, directed study, assignment work, practical exercises and a major project normally relevant to your employment and devised in conjunction with your employer.
This is a part-time course operating on the basis of one full day a week for two years. Please note: this is a two year course and there will be further fees in the second year.

Entry Requirements
Typically, you will require a Level 3 Certificate/Diploma in a numerate or engineering discipline or equivalent qualifications. Applicants will normally also require at least 4 GCSE passes (at grade C or above), including Maths and English or their Level 2 equivalents.
For mature applicants we will accept a wide range of non-standard and professional qualifications and experience, but if you are unsure as to whether you qualify we encourage you to contact us. Whilst we can be flexible with regard to formal qualifications, all applicants will be required to demonstrate motivation and commitment. You may also be asked to attend an interview of which you must be successful.
