Sorrell Art and Design Club for 14-16 year olds

Event Date: 05 November 2011
Location: Somerset College
Time: 10:00 - 12:00

The free Sorrell Art and Design club is aimed at school students who have a passionate interest and desire to learn, engage and produce design work.

From Saturday November 5th 2011 we will be running the National Art & Design Saturday Club which is a Sorrell Foundation Initiative. The club gives young people aged between 14-16 the unique opportunity to study art and design every Saturday morning, for free, at Somerset College.

The aim is to nurture the young people’s talent and build their confidence and self-esteem. Last year over 400 young people across the UK took part in their local club and for many it gave them an insight into college life and an understanding of new opportunities that could be opened up to them.

The club offers weeks of inspiring classes throughout the academic year and introduces a range of different disciplines using our specialist, university level, facilities.  Areas that club members have the opportunity to explore will be Animation, Fashion and Textiles, Graphics, Fine Art and Print – along with others along the way.

Club members will have the opportunity to display work at Somerset House in London along with visiting some of nation’s best galleries and museums. Masterclasses and workshops will help prepare them for a future in this area and help improve future portfolios along with a certificate to display in their National Record of Achievement.

The club is open to both boys and girls of all abilities who have an interest in Art and Design and this is a huge opportunity for anyone with an interest and for them to upskill and enjoy the element of design with expert tutors and facilities.
