Somerset College have been working with the military workforce since our relationship with the Ministry of Defence (MOD) started back in 1998.

We have an excellent history and reputation for delivering quality qualifications to a large array of military personnel either in the UK or abroad.

Somerset College provides educational and vocational courses across the South West and supports a significant number of distance learners throughout the UK and abroad. Somerset College is a leading training provider to the MoD along with being a preferred supplier to the Career Transitions Partnership, the MoD resettlement support organisation, and is also a University of Plymouth college.

Somerset College delivers in an extremely flexible way, which enhances the learning experience and enables a learner to feel empowered, either through distance learning, blended learning or workshops. Our BTEC Professional Management and Leadership Studies programme has been specifically designed and tailored to address the requirements of flexibility and portability for serving Military and MoD civilian personnel. BTEC Professional is a highly regarded qualification and is internationally recognised by academic institutions and businesses alike.

Somerset College offer three Leadership and Management courses:

• BTEC Level 7 - Diploma in Strategic Management & Leadership
• BTEC Level 5 - Award, Certificate and Diploma in Management & Leadership
• BTEC Level 3 - Certificate in Management

There is a great opportunity for students to progress from Level 3 upwards, or depending on experience there is an option to start at Level 5 or Level 7. Students can then continue with academic studies through an MSc in Leadership and Management at the University of Portsmouth or an MBA at the University of Plymouth - both are highly regarded Masters Degrees.
