What is the difference between a workshop, blended learning and distance learning?
A workshop is delivered, usually, on a base with a number of other personnel. Distance learning is where you will do all of your studies from home and submit electronically your work. Blended learning is a combination of the two.
What are ELC's?
The Ministry of Defence's Enhanced Learning Credit Scheme is a form of funding to enable lifelong learning amongst military personnel. Somerset College is a member of this scheme and so your ‘credits’ are available to be used for a course with us. For further information you can contact the Enhanced Learning Credit Administration Service on 0845 3005179.
How much does it cost?
For a full Level 5 Diploma is £630.00 (£210 for Award, £210 for Certificate and £210 for Diploma) and £2,430 for a full Level 7 Diploma. Funding from ELCAS will help with the cost of these courses.
Will the course be relevant to the work I do now?
The curriculum (course that you study) will be mapped around military life but makes it relevant so that it can be fit for purpose in the civilian world.
Will my course be recognised when I leave the forces?
The qualifications we offer are civilian accredited and recognised as good grounding management qualifications.
