All made up students aim for the top
Taunton-based Media Make-up students are all set for the regional heats of the WorldSkills contest in Bristol next week (May 25 and 26), as part of competitions around the country.
The second year Foundation Degree students from Somerset College in Taunton are taking part in the Media Make-Up (body painting) sector, and hoping to go on to the national finals - with potential inclusion in the UK squad for the international WorldSkills Competition.
The annual competitions aim to encourage people across the UK to excel in their vocational skills, and WorldSkills is the largest vocational skills competition in the world.
“It’s an exciting opportunity for students and a real celebration of their skills, it encourages them to aim for the top,” said Carolyne Hinds, Somerset College lecturer in Media Make-up.
The College is one of just a handful to teach Media Make-up in the South West, and graduates have gone on to work for major projects in film, theatre and television.
