Fast Track Accounting Course A Popular Choice
This term, Somerset College introduced a new fast track route to obtain the AAT Certificate in Accounting. The course enables people to complete the first level qualification in a really short space of time -18 weeks - and it has proved really popular. Learners can then go on to the Advanced AAT Certificate Fast Track, which will start in February 2010, for a further 18 weeks which means they can get to a high level within one year instead of two. These qualifications enable people to go in to careers in Accounting and Book-keeping and many will become self-employed.
Here are some brief student case studies:
Ricardo decided to go on the course because he wants to progress really quickly so he can go on to University and then follow a career in accountancy.
Sue is a self-employed book-keeper and wants to understand her area of work better and also wanted a course that she could do whilst working at the same time. She finds that this intensive style of learning is really good as you don’t forget things from week to week. She hopes to go on to the next level and feels the course will really improve her earning potential.
Peter wants to return to accountancy after many years away from it and wanted a course that could quickly bring him up to speed and refresh his existing knowledge. He will also go on to the next level and feels that this is really excellent high level training that can take you from knowing very little to a great deal about accountancy in an extremely short space of time.
Alistair Mckenzie, course tutor says:
‘This fast track route is ideal for people who want to progress quickly. The students come from a variety of backgrounds and are all good with numbers - this is a fairly intensive route so you do need to have an aptitude for numbers to succeed. We do a lot of work on computerised accounts and book-keeping using SAGE and Exel and the students find this valuable.’
The AAT Certificate Fast Track course will start again on 4th February 2010 and there will also be a great opportunity to progress onto the Fast Track Advanced Certificate in Accounting in 1st February 2010.
