Fine Art Students Open Arts Festival
Somerset College Fine Art degree students opened the renowned Appledore Visual Arts Festival in North Devon this week with their exhibition titled 'Entity'.
Nearly 20 second year FdA Fine Art students from Somerset College displayed their collections at Appledore.
Somerset College were asked to open the Appledore Visual Arts Festival for the second year running in a special exhibition at the Glove Factory in the picturesque village on the North Devon coast.
Student Elizabeth Earley said: ‘It was so exciting to take part in this exhibition, the collections look stunning. We have worked so hard to get this far, it is the culmination of our professional practice module. I have learnt so much, and can now call myself a professional artist. The course has been a tremendous experience.'
Students have created paintings, film, installations and sculpture to display in the exhibition. The exhibition will remain open throughout the festival.
Fine Art tutor, Stuart Rosamond, said: ‘We have a longstanding six year relationship with the Appledore Visual Arts Festival and with the Festival organiser, Sandy Brown. It is such a privilege that for the second year running our second year degree students opened the show. Each year we've exhibited at Appledore the exhibition has got better and better.'
