KEG Member Secures Best Product Award

Cavity Trays Ltd has demonstrated that the best ideas start in Somerset - and has received national recognition for a new product.

The Housebuilder Awards are backed by the whole industry – including NHBC (National House-Building Council), the Home Builders Federation and the New Homes Marketing Board – and are seen as an important part of the drive to improve standards in the industry.

At the annual Housebuilder awards ceremony held in London, Yeovil-based Cavity Trays Ltd won the Best Product category.

The judges said the best product category is one of the toughest because of the variety and number of products produced by national, international and home-based companies. Cavity Trays new product is called the Continuity Closer, an efficient multi-purpose reveal closer that insulates, acts as a DPC (damp-proof course), closes the cavity and importantly – integrates with the cavity insulation. It is the only product of its kind and improves build quality and insulating qualities in new homes. It also makes life easier for the site operatives.

It is one of several new designs released by Cavity Trays to raise standards in line with the carbon-footprint reductions that all new structures must meet to comply with the new Building Regulations.

Ben Roskrow on behalf of Housebuilder media and Imtiaz Farookhi , Chief Executive of the NHBC congratulated  those who were considered, stating that the efforts reflected the excellence and dramatic improvements in the quality in today’s house building industry. At the Millennium Mayfair in London, Alexander Armstrong congratulated John Shillabeer, the Chairman of Cavity Trays Ltd who commented:  ‘We are fortunate in having a superb team at Cavity Trays of Yeovil and it is their commitment that should be applauded’.

The Managing Director of Cavity Trays, Paul Holbrook said the construction industry was a challenging market and he was delighted with this latest recognition.

Cavity Trays is based on the Lufton Trading Estate and is responsible for designing and manufacturing over 200 types of construction product. It is the only company in its specialised field awarded European Technical Approval. Its products are used in many countries within domestic, commercial and educational construction.
