More than 300 students voted for their favourite further and higher education presidents at Somerset College's Student Union last week.
Natalie Parsley and Chris Carter will take up their roles in September to continue the hard work outgoing presidents Ed Hiland and Reuben Mills have started.
Natalie will take over from Ed as HE President, whilst Chris will take over from Reuben as FE president.
BA (Hons) Fine Art student Natalie, said: ‘It will be a real honour to serve my fellow students and have an impact on the day to day running of Somerset College.'
Chris Carter, who studies for a First Diploma for ICT Practitioners, said: ‘We will work together to help the students union become more established in the College and become more of a community. I am relishing the challenge of continuing the good work already carried out by Ed and Reuben.'
The Student Union has a number of other positions including Welfare Officer, Events and Activities Officer and Finance Officer. Students can nominate themselves to run for these positions in September 2008
Natalie and Chris will work together to further establish Somerset College's Student Union in 2008-09 and arrange student nights, charity days and end of year events.
Through Somerset College's partnership with the University of Plymouth the Presidents will also sit on their Student Union Executive Committee. They will also meet regularly with Presidents from other partner colleges.
This year the Student Union raised more than £180 for Turners Syndrome during a charity day as well as taking an active part in national No Smoking Day, and setting up clubs and societies including the DJ club.
The Students Union held their Summer Ball on Saturday 31 May at Cannonsgrove Halls. More than 190 students attended the event to celebrate the end of their year.
