Hundreds of students tested their skills to the utmost recently when they took part in the second Annual Skills Competition held at Somerset College, Taunton.
Over 200 were placed first, second or third and attended a special awards ceremony to celebrate their success.
Industry experts as well as college tutors judged the students’ skills in 27 competitions from engineering to computing, plumbing to fine art.
The competitions ranged from the more unusual – such as building a vehicle to carry an egg over a series of obstacles, for students studying Electrical Installation - to responding to an emergency holiday situation, for students on Travel and Tourism courses.
“The Skills Competition showed our students’ top notch skills and achievement levels,” said Rachel Davies, Principal of Somerset College.
“They really enjoyed the challenge, giving everyone the chance to celebrate each other’s achievements.”
