Students To Showcase Fashion Designs At Clothes Show Live
Two fashion graduates from Somerset College have been selected to display their illustrations and design collections at the national Clothes Show Live event.
Emma Westcott who studied the BA (Hons) Design (Fashion Textiles) course at Somerset College is one of only 10 fashion graduates who have been chosen to display and sell their collection as part of the ASOS graduate market place at Clothes Show Live. Emma was selected from a high volume of applications, from emerging graduate designers throughout the UK, by a panel of judges including fashion buyers, the Clothes Show Live team and celebrity stylist Karl Willet.
A second graduate, Jennifer Riley who also completed a fashion degree at Somerset College but undertook the BA (Hons) Design (Fashion) has won a competition with women’s fashion designers and creators, Geeks & Stiches. The well established fashion designers have asked Jennifer to illustrate two of their, spring/summer 13 collection, outfits to appear on tote bags which will be given away to attendees as limited edition goodie bags throughout the five day event.
Lucy Withecombe, Technical Demonstrator for Fashion and Textiles at Somerset College explains, “The Clothes Show Live is the UK’s largest fashion and beauty event and is a great opportunity for both Emma and Jennifer to display their illustrations and designs to a national audience. Their collections and illustrations reflect their passion and talent for fashion design and is a testament to the facilities and teaching that we have available at Somerset College”.
The Clothes Show Live will be held at the Birmingham NEC from 7th – 11th December and feature the UK’s leading designers, top celebrities and expert stylists. Somerset College will also be attending the event to provide advice to aspiring fashion and beauty graduates and discuss possible opportunities that are available to them.
