Student Services - Supporting your Learning

Help us to help you

Please tell us as soon as you can if you have, or think you might have, a learning difficulty of any sort. This will help us to ensure you get the most out of your time at Somerset College.

You can:

  • Make an appointment to meet with one of our Learning Support Team to discuss your needs. You can do this now, you don?t need to wait until you apply for a course.
  • Complete a Student Disclosure Form when you make your application for a place on one of our courses. Click here to download a Student Disclosure Form.
  • If you are invited to attend an interview as part of the application process you can talk to us then about any needs you may have.
  • Remember - you can make an appointment to talk to us at anytime before, during or after you have applied for a place on a course. We are here to help you get the most from your time at college.

Working with schools and other organisations

With your permission we will work with your current school or other local organisations whom you have contact with so that we fully understand your needs and can work with you to help you succeed.

Our Learning Support Team will ensure that you are treated with respect and that confidentiality is safeguarded.

What happens next?

Once we are aware that you may need learning support you will receive a one-to-one session with a specialist Learning Support Tutor who will work with you to fully assess your needs. Together you will then draw up and agree a Learning Support Plan which will be shared with relevant tutors so that everyone involved in your learning understands your particular needs.

During your time at Somerset College our Learning Support Team are available to help you resolve any difficulties or learning issues you have through the year. We continue to work with you and your tutors to make sure you get the most out of your time here.
