Early Years Senior Practitioner Level 5

Course Overview

This Diploma is suitable for you if you wish to study while earning a salary in paid employment.  It is assessed in a work situation and combines knowledge and practical skills.  It is a flexible programme. You will need to have the opportunity to be involved in supporting leadership and management in an early years setting, ideally in a Deputy Manager or Manager role.

You will complete a Level 5 Diploma for the Early Years Senior Practitioner. Topics covered involve:

  • Quality environments
  • Early years pedagogy
  • Professional development
  • Partnership working
  • Supporting children with special educational need

We have excellent relationships with early years settings in the area and we provide a supportive learning environment at College. The teaching staff and assessors have recent, relevant work place experience and enjoy the opportunity to support experienced early years practitioners who wish to further their career.

You are expected to have be employed in a managerial role in an early years setting.  Your employment will need to last the duration of the course.

Assessment Methods

You will build an online portfolio for this Diploma, which will consist of assignments, observations of you in practice, and other assessment methods such as professional discussions and reflective accounts.

Entry Requirements and Progression

Progression

On completion of this course you could apply for a top up degree relating to the early years sector.

Entry Requirements

  • You will need to be in relevant employment, with experience in the role.
  •  You will already hold a relevant Level 3 qualification for the early years sector 
  • You should have GCSE English and Maths at C/4 or above.
  • DBS
  • An interview is required for this course
  • You must be aged 19 or over

Fees

The fee for 2021/22 entry to this course will be set during Spring 2021.

The fee for 2022/23 entry to this course will be set during Spring 2022.
