Who is this course for?
This course is for professional managers in the private, public or third sector and all sizes of organisation who want to develop fully all aspects of their management and leadership skills, knowledge, self-awareness and behaviours. Specific job roles may include: Manager; Senior Manager; Head of Department; Operations Manager; or anyone with significant management responsibilities.
A Chartered Manager is someone who takes lead responsibility for people, projects, operations and/or services to deliver long term organisational success, with the professional recognition of their ability to deliver impact, behave ethically and demonstrate their commitment to continual learning and development.
Key responsibilities are likely to include strategic decision making, setting direction and achieving results, building and leading teams, clear communication, developing skills and motivating others, fostering inclusive and ethical cultures, leading change, project management, financial management, innovation, risk management, & developing stakeholder relationships.
Depending on the requirements of your organisation, elements of the units of study might will be tailored to meet their organisational needs but will cover the following:

The apprenticeship will also include development of required organisational behaviours.
Teaching and Assessment
Regular assessment will be agreed between the employer and UCS and will include assignments, reports, practical exercises, projects and 360-degree feedback. In addition, the apprentice will create a portfolio of evidence demonstrating how learning has been applied in the workplace.
Apprentices will attend monthly, one day face-to-face workshops from 9.30am - 4pm on Thursdays at our Taunton campus. These workshops will cover skills coaching to to develop leadership, management and communication skills on an individualised basis and enrichment activities to build skills in the areas of communication, presentations, interview and assignment writing.
In addition to the workshops learners can access on line resources to support their learning activities.
Reviews will take place every 6 weeks in the workplace with the apprentice and employer.
The typical duration for this apprenticeship is 4 years, but will depend on the previous experience of the apprentice.
Successful apprentices will achieve a Degree in Management and Business [either BA (Hons); BSc (Hons) or BBA (Hons)] and full chartered membership of the CMI, incorporating vocational and academic elements.
Employer led but typically A Levels (or equivalent) or existing relevant Level 3 qualifications, and English, Maths and ICT at Level 2. Other relevant or prior experience may also be considered as an alternative.

Sarah Tudor (Masters in Education)
Sarah has been teaching and leading in Further Education for 19 years and in that time has always focused on outstanding achievements for students and stakeholders. She has specialisms in Sports Management, through Sports Centre Management and Regional Leadership posts, and Educational Leadership through Post compulsory middle and senior Leadership roles.
Steve McLauchlan (MBA) Managing Consultant
Steve has a background in leading and managing strategic change programmes and operation functions at senior executive level. Steve’s experience extends across the disciplines of business analysis, customer and supplier relationship management, organisational analysis and design and programme/ project management. Steve also teaches and coaches on degree level programmes for senior leaders across the public sector, with emphasis on leading organisational and cultural change, quality improvement, communication and building high performing teams.
Nick is an accomplished, versatile and people focussed Skills Coach with Managerial and Supervisory experience which has been gained through work across a number of roles in Education, Retail (Tesco and Marks and Spencer) and TV/ Film post production
(The Great British Bake Off, Blue Planet and The One Show). Dedicated to building a positive, trusting and collaborative environment to enable learning with a considered, patient and supportive approach.
