  • Who is this course for?

    This top up year is the equivalent of the final year of an undergraduate degree programme and aims to build-upon the knowledge and skills developed on the Foundation Degree in Motorsport Engineering and produce a highly qualified engineer in the motorsport industry. The link with Oxford Brookes University (OBU) ensures that the quality and relevance of the course will be of the highest level. You will also benefit from a range of high profile educational visits and guest speakers as well as access to OBU online material.

  • Course Description

    This course has been developed as preparation for a range of technical and management careers in motorsport engineering. It aims to build on the knowledge and skills developed from studying the Foundation Degree.

    The programme is accredited by the IET and IMechE for partial IEng status. You could attain full status with relevant work experience alongside this qualification.

    Students can take advantage of new facilities including a new motorsport workshop, the Advanced Engineering Centre as well as joining the race team.

  • Teaching and Assessment

    You will be taught through a combination of classroom lectures and lab sessions. A high amount of self-study is required in order to further research. Assessment is via a variety of methods including assignments, portfolio, dissertations, presentations and reports.

  • Progression Opportunities

    On successful completion of the BSc (Hons) top-up degree in Motorsport Technology at Bridgwater & Taunton College, you have the option of entering employment, further academic study for a Master's Degree or PhD, or a combination.

  • Entry Requirements

    You will require a minimum of a pass grade in the Foundation Degree in Motorsport Engineering (to include BWM505 Mathematics II and BWM506 Motorsport Fluid Dynamics) coupled with relevant prior qualifications including GCSEs.

    Entry may also be subject to interview.

    Applicants with a Higher National Diploma or similar Foundation Degree are also encouraged to apply.
