Explosion of talent from Taunton to London

It’s an explosion of talent from Taunton to London as over 250 art and design students from university degree to school level get ready to wow audiences with their creative talent.

Somerset College in Taunton is hosting exhibitions showing a wealth of year end work, as well as putting on a spectacular fashion show and taking part in a national graduate design show, both in London.

The end of year exhibitions kick off with Free Range, a specially choreographed catwalk show at the Old Truman Brewery in London on June 3, showcasing stunning designs from the College’s Graduate Textiles and Fashion students.

This is followed by two Taunton exhibitions. First is the Fine Art Graduate Show at the Brewhouse Theatre, Taunton, from June 7 – 22. It is part of Somerset College's Plymouth University Fine Art graduate degree show, with the full range from contemporary painting to film and sculpture.
Next is one of the biggest annual art events in Somerset, the End of Year Show held at Somerset College’s Arts and Design Building, running from June 11-24. It features the work of Further Education as well as University graduates, with displays from Media Make-up to Fine Art, Textiles and Fashion to Surface Design and Graphic Arts.  The Fine Art work is also available to buy.
The year end shows finish with the New Designers Show (Part One), at the Business Design Centre in London. It features the work of BA graduates from around the country, including the College’s Interior Textiles, Surface Design and Fashion Textiles students, and is a major showcase for the industry as well as the public.
Art by students aged 14 to 16 from schools in the region, who have been attending the Sorrell Foundation Saturday Art Club at the College, will also be on display.
