Somerset College Textiles Students help to make Wellington Junior Schools Arts Week a Huge Success
A group of Somerset College’s BA Textiles students have had an amazing week at Wellington Junior School, helping out with various activities as part of the school’s Arts Week (8th-12th February). The students have been running textiles workshops with the pupils as well as supporting three artists in residence who have also been working with pupils and staff at the School.
Two of the students worked all week in the school foyer with pupils building paper sculptures and fashion garments which have been on display.
Arts Week Project Co-ordinator, Bridget John (Head of Art) and Acting Head Rachel Eaton Jones are delighted about how incredibly well this week has gone.
Rachel Eaton Jones says:
‘ Every child in the school aged 3-11has been involved in creating art and it has been an incredible experience for them. The Somerset College students have been charming and inspirational and encouraged all the children to achieve their very best. We are looking forward to future partnerships like this with the College.’
There is a provisional date for an Open Evening at Wellington Junior School between 3-8pm on 9th March where you can see the amazing array of art work that has been produced by pupils during the Arts Week.
