Surface Design Show 2015
Our 3rd year BA (Hons) Textiles and Surface Design students recently exhibited their work at The Surface Design Show at The Business Design Centre in Islington, London.
The show brings together the leading design companies in the United Kingdom giving them the opportunity to network with like minded businesses. Exhibitors ranged from interior architects to lighting designers, and visual merchandisers.
As one of only two colleges exhibiting, Somerset College were in an excellent position to share the amazing work that our students create with the industry experts present.
The stand was extremely busy with interest throughout the three days of the show, with one lady even traveling from Germany to look at our students work.
Course Leader Neil Musson says, “I think this year has been a great success. The stand looked fantastic and we had a great deal of interest from the industry, giving our students the opportunity to talk about their work and their creative process. It’s an important part of the students journey to get out amongst the industry and learn about current trends.”
Student Abigail O’Sullivan says, “It was really exciting to exhibit our work amongst such established names in the industry. I’ve really enjoyed the experience and how much interest we have had for our work.”
Student Sophie Brown says, “It’s a great experience being able to meet possible business contacts for our future after graduation this year. The show is a great platform for us to show what we can create.”
Student Rhiannon Llewellyn-Poyntz added, “After three years of hard work it’s been great to be able to show off all that we have achieved.”
