Creative Arts

If you are looking for our Music Production HND please click here.

At University Centre Somerset, our creative arts offering draws on the legacy of 130 years of Arts School tradition in Taunton. Embracing our unique local heritage and the vibrant arts scene, we collaborate with regional, national, and international arts organisations to provide an immersive and inspiring environment for students.

With a focus on both traditional craftsmanship and contemporary approaches, our creative arts programs offer a diverse range of opportunities to explore and express your artistic vision. We prioritize practical learning and provide strong industry connections that prepare our graduates for successful careers in the creative field.

Our Arts House in Taunton boasts a range of professional facilities for students to explore their creativity. The airy art studios, fashion manufacture workshops, and fabric print rooms provide ideal spaces for artistic expression. We also provide specialised equipment for fiber glass molding, 3D printing, and a traditional print room.

Media Make-up students benefit from three purpose-built spaces, featuring two professional-standard studios with 20 mirrored stations each. Completing the setup is a dedicated workshop room with workbenches and ceiling extraction, ensuring students have the necessary resources to thrive in their studies.

If you are looking for an Art & Design course to prepare for entry to a creative degree at university, please see the one-year UAL Foundation Diploma in Art & Design. Or, if you are interested in studying music, head over to the music course page now.

Our Creative Arts team have put together a magazine to accompany our latest End of Year Show. The magazine gives an overview of what students from all of our creative courses have experienced and achieved during the 2022-23 academic year. You can view it here.
