Apprentices Attend New Scientist Live

Degree Apprentice students travelled from Somerset to London to represent EDF at a science festival.

Five first year Nuclear Engineering Degree Apprentices recently went to the New Scientist Live festival at the ExCel in London. Their role at the festival was to represent their employer, EDF, at a stall, talking to visitors about their experience on the apprenticeship programme.

Over the two days they spend there, including a Schools’ Day, the students spoke with hundreds of people. This a great opportunity for them to network with those in the industry and learn more from other exhibitors and talks. On top of that, by talking with different audiences, the apprentices were able to expand their communication skills, improving their prospects once they have completed their programme.

Once they had returned, the students received really good feedback from the event organisers. As a result, they are keen to work with UCS, NCfN, and their apprentices for future events.
