Media Make-up students work with TV and Film Prosthetic Make-up Designer

UCS Media Make-up students ended the autumn term on a high, with a visit from industry professional Sangeet Prabhaker.

Sangeet is very highly regarded in the make-up and prosthetics industry and has worked on TV shows including Game of Thrones, Doctor Who and Willow, and was Prosthetic Make-up Artist on the recent blockbuster film Dune.

Sangeet set a brief, ‘Body Stories’, for the third-year students’ Industry Directed Project. This is focused on prosthetic effects such as scars, disfigurements and alopecia. He demonstrated a scar application from a silicone prosthetic piece he had created and showed how to colour match this to the model’s skin tone.

The demo was followed by a Q & A session and individual discussions with students about their designs. Sangeet offered valuable advice and guidance on how to execute their ideas, as well as useful tips about preparing for working in industry.

Becky, Media Make-up Learning Support Co-ordinator/Technician, said,

“The day was extremely insightful and inspiring, and we cannot wait to see how the students apply this knowledge to their own projects!”
