Each year, University Centre Somerset, part of UCS College Group, marks International Men’s Day by presenting an award to a deserving student who demonstrates the values and principles celebrated by the day. Following nominations from across the entire College Group, Rafe an EDF Nuclear Degree Apprentice, was selected as this year’s winner, this is such a significant achievement given the high number of nominations received!
The International Men’s Day Award aims to celebrate the positive contributions men make to society while also raising awareness of the challenges they face. This includes a focus on men’s health and wellbeing, the promotion of gender equality, and the importance of positive male role models within communities.
Rafe, was recognised for consistently demonstrating these values through his positive attitude and the impact he has on those around him. His approach reflects the purpose of International Men’s Day by highlighting the importance of everyday role models who contribute positively to their college, families and wider communities.
Speaking about the award, Assistant Principal Paul Goss said:
“Rafe certainly demonstrates all the qualities that International Men’s Day celebrates and makes him a great role model. He should be really proud to receive the Award in recognition of the positivity he brings to UCS, friends, family and his community.”
Rafe was presented with the award as part of International Men’s Day celebrations, recognising both his personal achievements and the wider message of encouraging positive role models.
UCS is proud to celebrate Rafe’s success and remains committed to recognising and promoting the values highlighted by International Men’s Day.
