Nuclear

Nuclear Engineering remains one of the UK’s most important industries, offering a range of opportunities within the sector including power generation, decommissioning, nuclear new build, defence and renewable energy.

With the development of Hinkley Point C, the UK's first new nuclear power station in a generation, on our doorstep, our National College for Nuclear (NCfN) facility is ideally positioned to train the nuclear workforce of the future.

Our Higher and Degree Apprenticeships have been developed with industry partners, educational partners and government and are validated by UWE Bristol. The NCfN has truly dedicated state-of-the-art facilities including a reactor simulator, flow rig and virtual reality training environment and will provide tomorrow’s engineers with high-tech, specialist training to support the nuclear industry.

We are delighted that from September 2021, a new, full-time BEng (Hons) Engineering with Nuclear degree programme will also be available at UCS. These programmes are also validated by UWE Bristol, enabling students to gain a degree from a prestigious university whilst studying in Somerset.
