Nursing

Following a Level 5 Nursing Associate pilot which launched in 2017, UCS has successfully trained over 100 Nursing Associates who have progressed to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and are now delivering much needed patient care throughout Somerset.

Our partnership with the NHS and Primary Care employers continues to go from strength to strength and, together, our vision is to build on our experience with the Nursing Associate pilot to develop and deliver more Nursing education across Somerset.

To this end, we are delighted to have been recommended for approval by the NMC to deliver nursing degree pathways; a full-time study programme route, and an Apprenticeship route.

Applications are now open for the full-time degree programmes starting in September 2023. Find out more and apply:

BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult)

BSc (Hons) Nursing (Mental Health)

Applications for the degree Apprenticeship routes will open as and when vacancies are advertised. To receive updates regarding vacancies and courses, please complete the enquiry form here.

If you are considering a career in Nursing but don’t currently hold relevant qualifications, we encourage you to apply for a one-year Access to HE Diploma, available at our Taunton campus in September. This course is designed to equip learners with the skills required for university-level study and provides a seamless pathway to the degree programmes offered at UCS.
